Project 5^th Annual BomBarBecue

 

This year 2013 on May 26 our signature BomBarBecue will be held at Padre Plaza Community Garden located at 545-541 East 139^th Street (corner of St. Ann’s Avenue) in the Bronx.

 

The purpose of our BomBarBecue is to provide a public acknowledgement recognition ceremony to value the community at large that have made a commitment in learning about the Afro-Puerto Rican traditions of Bomba.  Students that have attended the community workshops throughout the calendar year 2012 will receive a certificate of commitment by our organization “BombaYo”.

 

Last year over 200 people attended the BomBarBecue an increase of approximately 30% from the year 2011. This year we expect close to 300 due to our growth in the community bomba workshops by BombaYo.

 

Our ceremony also includes acknowledging the students that continue to preserve the education and tradition of bomba that started in 2008.  This group will receive a certificate of dedication.  Our BomBarBecue helps maintain the integrity of BombaYo and has inspired many organizations to support our work. 

 

BomBarBecue is BombaYo saying Thank You to our community at large including organizations, local politicians, community centers, family and friends.  Our estimated cost for this year BomBarBecue is approximately $5000.00 this includes cost of operation, materials and marketing promotions.
